What an INCREDIBLE few days at the Southwest Laryngology Conference!!! I am truly honored to have been guest faculty, and just super grateful to have been a part of this awesome conference focused specifically on all the things I love — VOICE, airway, swallowing, and head/neck cancer with a focus on the perspectives of laryngologists and speech pathologists in collaboration.
.
The conference provided hands-on experiences and discussed the latest research on a wide variety of topics including vocal health, acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment, neurological vs functional voice disorders, laser treatment for laryngeal cancer, lymphedema management, pharyngoesophageal interplay, transnasal esophagoscopy, pediatric voice, stroboscopy , TEP management of the laryngectomy patient, head/neck cancer patients (treated with radiation), upper airway disorders, the history (and future!!) of laryngology, and a TON more!!
.
I was honored to give a talk during the voice specialty workshop day (called “Prioritize Your Voice: Vocal Health and Injury Prevention”) and also got to be on the voice and upper airway case study panels. I absolutely LOVED getting to meet all the attendees and LOVED getting to spend time collaborating with and learning from the other (incredible!!) faculty as well. Whatever your career or area of focus, do you ever get that continuing ed high?! BECAUSE I DO. #truth
.
I also truly believe in the importance of a GROWTH MINDSET. Never stop learning. Surround yourself with like-minded passionate people at all times. “Be Fearless in the Pursuit of What Sets Your Soul on Fire!” Is there ever a better thing to do than follow your heart, live your passions, never stop learning, and collaborate with others who voluntarily want to do the same?!
.
I’m forever grateful for this life that gives me the opportunity to passionately pursue those things that set my soul on fire & be around other people doing the same—while helping those that need us.
