As an occupational voice user (a fitness instructor, teacher, coach, sales rep, therapist, performer, singer, public speaker, etc...), you can directly IMPACT others through the vehicle of your VOICE. You can “touch” them without physically touching them at all. Through the CONNECTION YOU CREATE from your VOICE and how you effectively use it to communicate, guide, inspire, lead, teach, and/or entertain. YOUR VOICE can make others FEEL.. it can evoke emotion, catapult action, pull others close to you, and exude an invitation to TRUST. Your voice can signify a safe place, motivate beyond what was thought possible, and provide a steady constant. How do YOU use your VOICE to touch others?! Does your voice match your mission? Does it ride out on the air to reach those around you? Or is it being held back in your throat and you have to strain or use effort to speak or sing?
.
YOUR VOICE has so much POWER and plays a huge role in your ability to make a difference in the lives of those who cross your path. How can your VOICE guide others on a JOURNEY? How can you create IMPACT with your VOICE?

It IS the foundation for voice.
.
If you’re not using air, it’s almost a guarantee you are using effort. Vocal effort can lead to vocal fatigue, muscle tension, and even odynophonia (pain with voicing). Pay with that AIR CARD (your vocal budget will thank you)...
.
If you’re not using air, your vocal mechanism is less efficient than it could be...and your subsystems of vocal production are disconnected. Overcompensatory patterns can set in because your body DOES want to work as it should and will recruit other subsystems (or muscles) to compensate for the ones that are not engaged. ALLOW your body and your voice to work together. Recognize any breathholding patterns you may unintentionally institute and instead “let go”. Imagine your voice riding out on the air to actually reach out and touch others. Voice truly is a full body experience. Work with it not against it... choose air not effort. Work smarter not harder.
.
BREATH is the fuel for voice ... and the CORE is the gas pedal (not the throat). Return to the BREATH. Support your voice. Connect your body to your voice. Allow it to do what it already knows.

It’s Prioritize Your Voice Friday… So how are you prioritizing your voice today? And everyday? As an OCCUPATIONAL VOICE USER, it should be one of your top priorities!
.
.
Professional and occupational voice users ARE VOCAL ATHLETES. Athletes put greater demands on their bodies and are at higher risk for injuries. Professional and occupational voice users put GREATER demands on their voices and are therefore at higher risk of vocal injury. As an occupational voice user, your VOICE is not only your INSTRUMENT and AUDIBLE BUSINESS CARD, but also your livelihood.
.
.
Shouldn’t PRIORITIZING your voice be high on your list?!
What do you need to know to keep your voice healthy? You should understand how the voice works, how to protect and care for your voice, and how to use your voice and entire vocal mechanism in the most efficient, effective, and dynamic ways possible.
.
.
I’m super PASSIONATE about this population of voice users (I’m one and most of you are too), and am HERE TO HELP! Reach out with any questions, concerns, or if you’d like to work together.
